Everyone here at MotorhomesUK loves all kinds of motorsport, from Formula 1 to Superbikes. What better way to attend your favourite motorsport event than in a motorhome that provides all the luxuries of your own home. The sounds and smells at motorsports are intoxicating, and over a race weekend you want to make sure that you see as much as possible.

Whether you are staying on a campsite for the Britcar 24 Hour race or on the Isle of Man for the TT, a motorhome can provide you with comfort and facilities that you would miss out on if you were camping in a tent. A warm bed and cooking facilities will mean that hiring a motorhome can make your favourite motorsport event a little bit more special.

Hiring a motorhome or campervan from MotorhomesUK is an easy way for you and your motorsport loving family and friends to attend the best motorsport events in the UK and Europe. All you need to do is select the region that you want to hire your motorhome from. Remember, you don’t have to hire a motorhome that is close to you. You could find one close to the motorsport venue and drive to collect it in the comfort of your own car, this is ideal for people that might feel daunted by driving across the country in a motorhome.

Affordable Motorsport event motorhome hire.

MotorhomesUK has all sizes of motorhomes and campervans, however our most popular size are 6 berths. This means that you and 5 of your mates can enjoy the racing and split the cost, making it very affordable. With comforts like televisions and a fridge, you can recap the days action long after the drivers have hung up their helmets.

Motorhomes UK strides to ensure that we provide an excellent and dedicated service whilst also having high quality campervans and motorhomes. With over 30 years in the motorhome industry, we have learnt exactly what it means to have a fleet of privately owned vehicles available throughout the UK so that our customers have a fantastic selection of motorhomes and campervans in a multitude of locations to hire. However, we also understand that we need to provide this service at a price that is competitive and saves you money.

We regular check the prices of many campervan and motorhome rental companies to make sure that you get the best deals. Comparing prices also allows us to make sure that we stay competitive, because we feel that people need to experience our services. Here at MotorhomesUK, we are proud of our business. We regularly go motorhoming so know what makes a perfect holiday, touring the UK and Europe has taught us invaluable experiences and advice that we are happy to share with our customers. We love nothing more than the idea of hiring a campervan or motorhome for two weeks and exploring new areas or just simply visiting favourite spots. That’s why we want to have cheap prices, because we want everyone to share our love for motorhoming.

Quality, loved Motorhomes.

As one of the largest motorhome hire agencies within the UK, we have a wide selection of privately owned vehicles from 2 berth campervans, such as VW Transporters and VW Californias, right up to 7/8 berth motorhomes from manufacturers such as Hymer, Atessa and Swift.

Rather than owning our own fleet of motorhomes, we are an agency that hires privately owned motorhomes. These vehicles are not just some asset like with other companies, our motorhomes are loved and prized possessions of their owners, meaning that they are looked after, cleaned and serviced by their happy owners. Each campervan is valet cleaned inside and out before you collect the motorhome so that you can have an excellent holiday.

Motorhomes UK makes hiring a motorhome easy and affordable, hire from us and you will love our service.

We live in a small town widely regarded as ‘The Gateway to the Dales’. It may be the gateway but we have never even looked over the threshold even after living near to Ilkley for over ten years. It sounds ridiculous that we have been to far flung exotic destinations but we have never been to Wensleydale. So when we suggested to our friends that we should have a weekend camping near Grassington it seemed an excellent idea and did turn out to be a great weekend.
We had the sunniest two days that July had to offer, infact it was so hot we had to ‘retire’ inside for cold drinks and a bit of a lie down! We stayed around 5 miles out of Grassington on a beautiful campsite (in the middle of nowhere) even the nearest pub was 3 miles down the road.
The scenery was stunning, have a look at these reviews of Hawkswick Cote Caravan Park.
This site is really central for every where, Grassington, Kettlewell and Hawes. You can go and watch how Wensleydale cheese is made and make sure you go into the cheese tasting room in the shop and try all the different cheeses they make, mmmmmm scrummy.
There is an interesting day out at Hardraw in the form of a lovely scenic pub called the Green Dragon with an impressive water fall at the back of the pub. It costs a couple of quid to get to see it but (and this is from someone who is not easily impressed by gushing water) it is well worth the muddy uneven path to the site of the water fall. There is a large pool, usually full of kids and dogs but the actual fall is exceptional.
A great place for lunch in Grassington is the Devonshire Arms, they do a great two course Sunday lunch for less than £10.00.
It’s a great place to go if you just want to get away from it all, chill out and enjoy the scenery.

.…..Devon, Cornwall, The Dales and Scotland. There are so many other places in the UK that you can travel to which you may not think of immediately!

Even if it means taking a short ferry from the UK mainland it is worth the effort – it just takes a bit of planning.

So here is an idea – why not take the ferry from Stranraer or Liverpool to Belfast and see what Northern Ireland has to offer?

From the beautiful windswept coastline of the Giants Causeway and the knee trembling swaying of the Carrick-a-Rede rope bridge to the vibrant energy of Belfast you will never be stuck for something to do or see.

We spent 4 days in and around Belfast enjoying the cosmopolitan restaurants and bars. The city is steeped in history, both old and recent.
The reminders of The Troubles are still there, the freshly painted murals along the Shankhill Road and the high walls of separation still snake along the edges of the ‘areas’, you can even tour the Crumlin jail now. Visit the Europa hotel, The Crown Tavern and the City Hall or take a tour around the slipways of the regenerated Belfast dock and the Harland and Wolff offices. You can imagine the elegant Titanic towering under the cranes of Samson and Goliath.

The Giants Causeway is only a few hours drive from Belfast, as is the rope bridge. It is a fabulous day out, you must try the Irish stew at the Causeway hotel when you have made your way back from the windswept coast and if you are the lucky one not driving, indulge in a Bushmills whiskey in the bar.

There are plenty of good quality campsites in and around the area. So get planning your adventure, you can have a great touring holiday with a little bit of everything from action packed days to gourmet evenings all in one place!

Air travel is becoming more and more expensive with families having to dig even deeper to fund their annual break away after some of the UK’s biggest holiday companies said they would impose fuel surcharges in response to soaring oil prices.
The newspapers are reporting Thomson and Thomas Cook will charge supplements that range from £15 to £40 per person depending on how far passengers are flying.
Taking a motorhome is a cost effective way to get away and with our fuel efficient vehicles it’s certainly much cheaper than flying!!

The ski world cup in Switzerland has drawn record crowds to the pistes this season, but it’s not only competitive skiing that makes a journey to the Alps worthwhile. British holidaymakers are heading in their droves to the snowy uplands for their dose of winter sun in 2011. Increasing numbers are choosing to make the trip by motorhome.
Skiing, snowboarding and wintersports in general are increasingly popular with British holidaymakers, and with plenty of snow falling in the Alps this season it’s easy to see why so many are heading for the slopes.
A growing interest in motorhome holidays means that many British families and groups of friends are also hiring a motorhome for the trip up the snowy slopes. Let’s face it, the Alps are within a day’s drive of Calais.
Motorhome hire fits the bill on a number of counts: it’s more affordable than a lot of chalet accommodation, plus it gives you the freedom to explore the Alps and not be confined to just one or two resorts.
The beauty of the motorhome is that you are 100 percent mobile, as well as 100 percent accommodated in comfort.

I can’t say it much clearer – if you are planning on experiencing the open road, the wind in your hair and no particular place to go for any longer than 4 days make sure you hire a motorhome with a loo and shower. The little campers are great for a hippy weekend at a truckfest but if you are planning a home from home comfort holiday please bear this in mind, especially if you are taking kids.

It’s a tender subject, the motorhome toilet, and one we are asked about a tremendous amount. People seem to be obsessed with the toilet situation whilst camping. I, on the other hand am an expert on this subject, I know my Thetfords! I’m not embarrassed about explaining to our first time hirers that they are easy to empty (although I don’t actually don’t do this bit) but I have extensive experience watching my husband do it. It’s a subject skirted around by motorhome hirers, maybe the thought of carrying a big plastic box of human waste across a campsite makes them squeamish – but really it’s ok.

If you have read previous posts and know about Five Star Trev you will know he is not the most willing camper, so when my husband gave him a lesson in portapotty maintenance he wasn’t that enthusiastic. When he pulled out the cassette and a few drips of water (yes water) fell on his hand he nearly had a coronary, it didn’t help my husband explaining “it’s only a bit of wee”!

I found an article about living in a camper, it’s rather interesting but the lack of a cassette toilet not only perturbs me but sends a shiver down my spine. Have you ever tried running across to the toilet block at 5.00am in your pyjamas? Gosh I can’t even put the bin out at home without full makeup on, by the time I got my lippy on I would have wet myself! The article does say that chemical toilets smell, it depends what you use them for (number 1′s are fine), for instance it’s not a good idea to put face wipes down them (we once found coffee creme cartons down one of our hire vehicles toilets) I mean WHY?

Honestly, you would have to leave them festering a good long time before that sort of smell kicks in. It’s a good idea to empty them every other day (even if they are not full), give the cassette a good rinse at the tap and put plenty of blue chemicals down. Thank you for reading, I feel so much better for tackling the delicate subject of mobile toilets. I hope it has been helpful. Happy Thetfording!

Last year myself and my husband took our two berth to North Wales. It was a strange experience. We had seen all the adverts on the telly and decided it was time to bite the bullet and give it a go. I say bite the bullet because although we didn’t have anything against Wales we kind of pictured it as a remote outpost full of sheep, leeks and rarebit (those of you who have seen the parody of Jayzees ‘NewYork’ entitled ‘Newport’ on Youtube will know where I am coming from). So totally English that we are! Anyway, we saw the ads and decided if it was okay for that irritatingly perfect family that starred in it then it would be okay for us. It was last June and we decided to stay on the Lleyn Peninsula in North Wales. The weather wasn’t great but the scenery is just gorgeous. We were on a campsite about 3 miles from Caernarfon and there are some great restaurants in the town, I can recommend the Black Bouy Inn, try the Welsh Scouse, mmmmmmm, lovely!

There are lots of other coastal towns to go and see, some full of sedate cafes and others full of the surfy types. Porthmadog is worth a trip, but there are some other lovely secluded coves which really are like a little bit of paradise.

One word of warning, if you pick up a local guide with a listing of Black Rock (if I remember correctly) where you can drive (safely) out onto the beach. Approach with caution, my fault entirely, but after digging through two foot of sand, trying to stuff bits of newspaper under our front tyres and finally attracting the attention of a nice gentleman with a tow rope and a Range Rover we realised pushing a 3.5 tonne Trigano Tribute out of sand dunes that North Africa would be proud of was impossible. Beware of soft sand!

Surviving that little incident (we can’t blame Wales for my lack of concentration) we decided to keep ourselves to ourselves and take a trip to Portmerrion, come on EVERYONE goes to Port Merrion, when you return home from your Welsh escapade EVERYONE will ask you if you went to Portmerrion and then harp on relentlessly about ‘The Prisoner’. If you just want to go because you feel you have to you can turn up really late, about 4ish, and you will get a substantial discount on the entrance fee. That is if you are feeling like your money is better spent!

I came across this article in the Caravan Club magazine and it brought it all back (although we didn’t do any of the activity type stuff)……you might want to check it out, if you haven’t been to North Wales it comes highly recommended from us at MotorhomesUK.
